How Much Does a Hawaiian Honeymoon Cost?

On average, a Hawaiian honeymoon costs between $4,000 and $8,000. But you could spend less or more depending on several factors, including:

  • The length of your stay: the longer you stay, the more you spend, and vice versa.
  • Accommodation: beach and oceanfront resorts are more expensive than budget hotels and Airbnbs.
  • Excursions: Hawaii has a range of luxury activities, such as beach cruises, helicopter tours, submarine tours, and scuba diving, which are expensive.
  • Food and drink: Eating in luxury restaurants in Hawaii is expensive compared to cafes and local eateries.
  • Travel time: If you go on a honeymoon during the peak season, you’ll likely pay more for accommodation, activities, and fights.

How to Plan a Budget Honeymoon in Hawaii

  • Rent an Airbnb to save on food and accommodation since you can cook some meals. Alternatively, you can stay in a budget hotel instead of a luxury resort.
  • Take advantage of free and cheap excursions such as hiking, walking the gardens, swimming, and snorkeling at the local beaches.
  • Eat local, from food trucks, cafes, and restaurants.
  • Visit during shoulder months (mid-April to early June and September to mid-December) for cheaper deals on accommodation, flights, and activities. The islands are also less crowded at this time.
  • Book early and take advantage of deals and bonuses.
  • Plan for a short stay (5-8 days).
  • Avoid island hopping to save on transport.

What Types of Honeymoon Accommodations Are Available in Hawaii?

Hawaii has a variety of accommodations for the best honeymoon, regardless of your budget.

Hotels and beach resorts range from high-end luxury to budget accommodations. Luxury accommodation includes high-rise buildings, usually in urban areas such as Honolulu and oceanfront resorts. These types may offer all-inclusive honeymoon packages, including meals, drinks, and activities. Additionally, you can opt for an adult-only honeymoon resort.

Luxury villas and bungalows for couples with an unlimited budget. They have private amenities such as infinity pools and beach access.

Vacation rentals or Airbnb are perfect for a budget itinerary in Hawaii. Campsites offer tents and cabins for outdoor enthusiasts.

What Is the Best Time of Year to Honeymoon on the Hawaiian Islands?

The best time of the year to visit Hawaii is from April through October. The weather is warm, and there is little rainfall. However, most tourist destinations are a bit crowded, especially during the summer months (mid-June to August).

Therefore, April to June and September to November are perfect because you’ll enjoy relatively good weather and fewer crowds. Generally, Hawaii is an all-year-round honeymoon destination, but I recommend avoiding August, December, January (crowds and high prices), March, and November (rain).

What Is the Cheapest Time to Visit Hawaii For a Honeymoon?

The cheapest time to visit Hawaii is during February and March after the holidays and during the shoulder season (mid-April to June).

February and March don’t have the best weather because there’s high rainfall. But you can still enjoy various activities such as whale watching and helicopter tours.

What Is the Best Way to Travel to Hawaii?

The best way to travel to Hawaii is by air. It takes about 5-6 hours from the West Coast and 11-12 hours from the East Coast. There is a range of direct flights from the major cities in the country to the main Hawaiian islands, including Honolulu, Maui, Kauai, and Oahu.

Longer flights (from the East Coast) tend to be pricier. Therefore you can connect through the West Coast if you’re traveling on a budget. But direct flights make the journey faster and smoother.

What Is the Best Way to Get Around Hawaii?

The best way to get around Hawaii is by road. You can rent a car or use taxis when moving around one island. If you plan to island hop, you can use the ferry to cross from one island to another. Alternatively, you can fly between islands or take a helicopter or boat ride, but it’s expensive.
